Bubba Brothers August, 28

There is Peter Parker, a photojournalist, who is also Spiderman, Clark Kent, a journalist, who takes off his glasses and becomes Superman, or Bruce Wayne, a millionaire who, at night, is Batman. Eliseu Correia has no superpowers, but he shares with these superheroes the fact that he leads a double life: by day he is a successful businessman and at night, with a hat and sunglasses, he "transforms" into a DJ, one of the "Bubba Brothers". The story of the Algarve DJ duo Bubba Brothers has been two years of life in a frenetic rhythm, which began in a friend's bar and, on the 13th of August, has another chapter: the performance at the Leiria Municipal Stadium, in the Leiria Dancefloor, event where Bob Sinclair, for example, has already performed and where, this year, Pete tha Zouk, or Mastiksoul will perform. In short and succinct terms, the Bubba Brothers project began as a joke when, at one of EC Travel's parties, Eliseu Correia took on the task of providing the music for the get-together. Yes, he had some experience, but from at least three decades ago. "Well, when I was 17 years old I worked in the disco A Onda, in the Alfamar Hotel, in Albufeira. It was the summer of 1985, and one of the tasks I had was to pass on music. At the time, hotels had this tradition of having a disco, and it was a professional obligation", he recalls. Thirty years later, "I wanted to hire a famous local DJ who is now my friend - and the price I was asked to pay to play a 90-minute set was so high" that Eliseu took matters into his own hands. "I wanted to give the best to my guests, but it was overkill." And so, in 2013, he returns to the sound booth and records, at Le Club in Santa Eulália (formerly Locomia). "I was helped by Zé Black who gave me some lights and this always around so I didn't give a tent," he jokes. Then, in 2014, the bar "2Beer or not 2Beer" in Montenegro came about. "Talking here and there, the opportunity arose to play music there. I bought a mixing desk and invited my friend Justino Santos to help me with the case with almost 300 CDs that weighed a ton, selecting and pre-listening" the songs.
